How To Lose Pregnancy Weight

Are you ready to get rid of that mommy weight once and for all?  There are a few things you should know before taking action with any workout program, but once you get that taken care of, put these tips into action on how to lose pregnancy weight and get your body back!

We have a few things to cover before I start giving you tips on how to lose pregnancy weight.

1.  Relax. You’re a mom and you’ve got some higher priorities in life now and losing pregnancy weight in 2 weeks is not high up on that list. I know it sucks, and trust me I hear a lot of griping about pregnancy weight, but you need to take a couple deep breaths and relax.

2.  Get the OK from your doctor that it’s OK to start doing any type of workout program - whether it's my 10-minute workout program, or anything else. This is a very important step. Sometimes new moms are way too eager to jump back into the swing of things and don’t get the OK from their doctor and that’s not wise. 3.  Understand that your body went through some changes while you were pregnant and some things may never be the same. Please don’t cuss me out, it’s true and it needed to be stated.

OK, now I’ve gone through all the formalities on how to lose pregnancy weight, now let’s get into the good stuff.

In many respects, losing pregnancy weight is just like losing weight at any other stage of your life. It takes planning and knowing what to do, however, as I said earlier, it may take a bit more time and some things may be frustrating.

I said it may be more difficult, but it’s not impossible. Just follow the next steps on how to lose pregnancy weight and you will be off to a good start.

1. Get back to the basics. While you were pregnant a lot of things changed in your body including your hips getting looser and wider, and your stomach growing to the point of explosion. Because of those two things your core muscles are weak and need to be stabilized.

So to lose pregnancy weight, you first need to get your core back in order. Doing lots of exercises like planks, side planks, wood chops, push-ups, bodyweight squats and bodyweight lunges are great ways to get your core strengthened while also getting rid of that pregnancy weight. All those exercises are great core strengtheners plus they’re great ways to lose fat.

2. Cut out the junk. I know this goes without saying, but you might have a lot of people around you telling you it’s OK to eat the comfort foods because you just had a baby. Tell them all to take a hike because they’re not helping you. They’re hindering your results.

You need to get rid of the processed carbohydrates like all the cookies, crackers, chips, and anything else that comes in a box or bag and start adding a lot of fruits and vegetables as well as some healthy fats and lean proteins.

Being a mom is going to take a lot of energy (as I’m sure you already know), and those foods I just mentioned are going to send your energy levels through the roof while all the processed carbohydrates will not only make you fat, but they’ll wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels.

3. Ease back into the cardio. I’m not normally a big advocate of cardio for weight loss, but you need to lose that mommy weight, and it can sometimes be a good idea to add it in the beginning, but just until your body gets back into the swing of things and is able to do more intense exercise like 10-minute workouts and bodyweight circuit workouts.

You should start off easy with around 10 minutes of cardio a day, and ease it up to 15 and then 20. Once you can do 20 minutes at a moderate pace, it’s time to amp it up a notch and move into interval training for cardio or do bodyweight circuits instead of cardio.

There you have it. There are 3 easy steps to take to lose pregnancy weight that you can start today. Once you’re ready, you can step it up to 10-minute workouts and that will really burn that pregnancy weight off faster than you can say "mama needs new clothes!"
